The show opens with us seeing recaps of when the final four first came to the ranch. We then see clips of all of their accomplishments while at the ranch thus far…HUGE changes!

Alison meets with the final four and makes it official that they will now be returning home for 30 days. They will then return to weigh-in one last time before the finale.

Each of the four contestants arrive in their home towns to friends, families and lots of cheering supportive people. They then weigh-in in front of everyone, recreating the moment that they first did this at their starting weight. It is emotional and very amazing to really see their progress and the person they are today standing in front of all these same people.

Then…Alison shows up on special video broadcast to announce they their last challenge will be completing another marathon on foot. The winner will receive $10,000 for their charity of choice.

We then see each of the contestants having heart to heart talks with their loved ones as they prepare for life away from the ranch.

The contestants begin training for their marathon.

Curtis Visits Daris:

Daris had won a special visit from celebrity chef Curtis Stone who shows up to give him some great tips for cooking and eating. They go to Daris’s favorite restaurant and Curtis adds some healthy choices to the menus so that Dairs and other health conscious people will have another choice that is less fattening. He also takes Daris grocery shopping and then helps him to prepare some healthy foods. The time with Curtis ends with a bunch of friends coming over for a good healthy meal.

Surprise Visits from the Trainers:

Bob and Jillian show up at each of the hometowns to surprise and visit with each contestant to see how they are doing so far.  They go to the gym with them and the contestants feel more inspired because of their visits.

Individual Challenge – the Marathon!

The four contestants meet up with Alison to begin the marathon.

The contestants set off and are looking strong! They are each more determined than ever to finish the marathon as they recall just how far they have come.

Previous Biggest Loser contestants from prior seasons join each of the contestants to run a few miles with them to add encouragement and support.

Daris has some serious personal goals that he is pushing for with this marathon. Wow! He comes in first, beating Tara’s previous record for the Biggest Loser marathon time. YAY Daris!

Biggest Loser 9: Episode 917 Recap

(Original Air Date 5/11/2010)

The show opens with Mike telling them how appreciative that he is that they chose to keep him during last week’s elimination.

Koli and Sunshine discuss the previous elimination and Koli expresses that he really feels that they had made a bad choice in not sending Mike home because he was the bigger threat in the game.

The contestants meet with Alison and she let’s them know that this week the elimination would be automatic and completely dependent upon the number on the scale. There would only be one red line and the single person with the lowest percentage of weight loss would fall below the red and automatically be sent home.

Alison then announces that she has some special people that she wants to introduce them to….

It’s Helen, winner of Biggest Loser Season 7 and Erik, the winner of Season 3.

Helen has lost and kept off around 140 lbs. Erik had lost 214 lbs total and then unfortunately gained most of it back. He has now lost about 70 lbs again and is here to tell them some of the realities of where he has been and about his struggle.

Helen and Erik break off and talk to the contestants one on one for a bit which is extremely helpful to the contestants.

Bob and Jillian meet with the contestants and they all discuss the previous elimination and this week’s red line with no vote. Then on to some serious working out! Of course!

Mike and Bob have a heart to heart and he expresses his frustration to Bob about how far he has yet to go. Bob reminds him of just how far he has come. Mike completely explodes and walks out of the gym…whoa! Bob meets up with him outside and he settles down a bit.

Individual Challenge:

It’s time for a classic “put the weight back on” Biggest Loser challenge…voted on by the viewers!

The contestants will run over 16 hills (to signify the 16 weeks that they’ve been at the Ranch) of sand starting out with all of their original weight being dragged – as they reach each hill, they will be able to eliminate the same amount of weight that they had lost during that week at the Ranch.

They will race back to Alison and the winner will win $10,000.

Faced with the realization of just how much extra weight they were carrying around back then is a HUGE deal!

Daris wins the challenge! Go Daris!

Alison then gives Daris the choice of taking the $10,000 or the 1 lb advantage. He chooses the 1 lb!

Bob takes the contestants out shopping and surprises the gang with a special guest…Tony Romo! They shop and then Tony goes on a hike/run with them! Awesome!

They then spend some time looking at where they started when they first arrived at the Ranch and just how far they’ve come! So inspirational! 🙂

AND Mike meets with Dr. H. to hear all the great news about where he is at physically and medically compared to where he was when he first came to the Ranch! Amazing results!

Last Chance Workout:

It’s the LAST last chance workout at the Ranch! The contestants push it hard! No holding back!

Biggest Loser 9: Episode 914 Recap

(Original Air Date 4/20/2010)

The contestants meet with Alison to hear the announcement of a serious food temptation…

Food Temptation:

Alison announces that there is a room upstairs filled with food – healthy and unhealthy choices. The kitchen is locked and the contestants must eat all of their meals from this room for the whole day.

At the end of the day, the person with the most calories consumed will win the temptation and control the elimination this week by having the only vote.  If this person also happens to fall before the yellow line, the game will continue as normal.

Most of the contestants actually stayed below their normal calories for the day. Koli, on the other hand completely blew everyone away by eating 4,164 calories! Koli wins the single vote this week and he did it all to keep Sam in the game.

Bob and Jillian discover that Koli won the temptation and are annoyed by everything that Koli ate all because of wanting Sam to stay. Jillian is flat out disgusted.

The contestants workout with Bob and Jillian and everyone is very amazed by what O’Neil has accomplished as he does some serious push-ups! Go O’Neil!

Ashley has a melt down in the gym and talks to Bob about where she is emotionally right now.

The contestants meet with the doc to see how all of their hard work is paying off physically. MAJOR gains here for all! Awesome! Now that is the real pay-off to getting healthy.

Challenge:

Each contestant has 175 building blocks to get themselves high up to collect their banner and win the challenge. The prize? A 1 lb advantage at the weigh-in.

The person that comes in last will get a 1 lb disadvantage for the week.

Sam and Daris are the first to reach the ladders and try for the climb.  Daris wins the challenge and the one lb advantage! Go Daris!!

Now everyone will fight to not come in last.

Man, O’Neil falls as he is climbing down from his blocks and needs to be taken away by medics…looks like injury to his knee. 🙁 O’Neil automatically gets the 1 lb disadvantage because he was unable to complete the challenge.

He comes back from the hospital wearing a brace on his knee but it good spirits.

Bob and Jillian announce that the contestants are heading to the beach – not with their trainers, but to meet a very special person to workout with…Gabrielle Reece, professional beach volleyball player. She puts them through an intense workout at the beach.

Trainer Tip:

It is just as important to exercise your brain as it is your body. Try balancing on one foot or on a stability ball as someone quizzes you so that you are working your brain along with your stability skills.

O’Neil gets the sad news that his older brother passed away from cancer. Man, hard week for O’Neil.

Last Chance Workout:

Typical last chance workout craziness! Jillian works O’Neil out in a big way which is great for him emotionally. Seems that he really needs it with everything he’s been through this week.

Biggest Loser 9: Episode 913 Recap

(Original Air Date 4/13/2010)

The show opens with a look at the contestants at the very beginning of the season…we remember just where they were when they stated….coming up – Suze Orman and previous Biggest Loser hero, Danny.

Alison informs the contestants of a surprise awaiting them in the gym.

Pop Challenge:
Each contestant will balance a tray while adding quarters to it. The last person holding onto the quarters at the end will win and the prize is $10 for each quarter they are left holding.  20 minutes in and people are really starting to struggle with their trays.  It comes down to Andrea, Sunshine and Michael.  Michael won $1000 and Sunshine actually goes away with $650.  Way to go!!

Suze Orman meets with the gang to talk about what weight loss and finances have in common. A lot of debt can feel like a burden just as weight can feel like a heavy burden.

Trainer Tip:
At work it can be difficult to stay mindful of healthy living.  Many office versions of the Biggest Loser are popping up around the country.  Get involved!

Back to Suze and the gang…in walks last year’s Biggest Loser Danny! He talks about his debt and his weight issues. The contestants discuss their own money issues.

Last season, Suze picked Danny as the winner of the Biggest Loser. This season she picks Sunshine. Her pick is based on credit scores and how Sunshine deals with finances. Hmmm…not sure I really agree with all that. Interesting theory.

Yay! The contestants then get to work out with Danny!  Jillian and Bob are excited and stunned to see him! Fun times in the gym!

Jillian and Victoria have a bit of a heart to heart about what is holding her back. She pushes through on the treadmill.  Go Victoria!

Then Victoria and Koli have a nice chat…very good and kind.

Individual Challenge: (for a car!)
The contestants meet up with Alison out in the rain and she announces that TWO people are going to win cars in today’s challenge! WooHoo!

The contestants have to run in the pouring rain to colored balloons that hold many keys. They then will run back and forth trying one key at a time until two people choose the correct keys to start the cars!

OK, one car goes to Drea! Awwww….O’Neil wins the other and immediately states that it is going to Sunshine! What a sweet Dad!!! Love O’Neil!

Trainer Tip:
Interval training is a great form of exercise.  If you don’t have access to equipment, you can sprint outside for 50 yards, walking back to where you started and then repeat to get a great interval workout.

Back to the gym…Jillian has Victoria doing sprints with EACH of her teammates. Argh! Then that talk it out about how much Victoria deserves to win with her health.

Drea and Bob have a great heart to heart about how much more comfortable she is in her body and with physical communication. She did not like to touch or be touched when she was really overweight.

Bob has the contestants working outside in the mud and then…all hell breaks out! Bob is muddy and Jill looks, then runs in disbelief…fear? 😉 Jillian is carried away towards the mud by the contestants! It’s a total mud bath for all!

Last Chance Workout:

Jillian did vow to get revenge for the mud fight and the time is now! AND WOW! Michael runs 5 miles for the first time! Impressive, I’d say!

The contestants meet with the doctor to talk about the healthiest way to quickly lose this 2% of weight that they are all aiming for.

The contestants are playing the game and trying to figure out when people will be weighing in for their chance at immunity.

Victoria is the first one to push the button to weigh in and the rest of the contestants come running to watch. Everyone thinks it is way too early! AND she does not make it.

Individual Challenge for a 2 wk Stay at the Biggest Loser Resort

To win the challenge the contestants will have to get 100 weights from the bottom of the pool and put them on their scale at the end of the pool. Then it comes down to Mike and Melissa for last and everyone goes to help Mike, leaving Melissa for last place. She now has the 1 lb disadvantage.

Melissa has no allies and knows that she needs immunity to stat in the game.

Koli and Sam wait for everyone else to go to bed and hit the gym for a serious workout before they plan to hit the button and weigh in the next day for immunity. They are determined to get there before Melissa.

Melissa also then hits the gym at 3AM!

The buzzer goes off and contestants scramble to see who it is…It is Sam! He makes his 6 lbs and loses 10 lbs total to win immunity this week! Go Sam!

Jillian has a good heart to heart with Sunshine about her relationship with her dad and also the weight struggles for them both.  Sunshine and O’Neil then have a very emotional and great talk.

Biggest Loser 9: Episode 910 Recap

(Original Air Date 3/23/2010)

The show opens with an announcement from Alison just after Sherry is eliminated. EVERYONE is leaving the ranch to go home for a full week!

Excitement is an understatement!

Friends and families are amazed and happy to see the contestants.

Challenge and Tempation

Shortly into their initial visit HUGE boxes appear from the Ranch! Alas, an exercise bike, big box of cupcakes and dvd from Alison reveal a challenge and a temptation.

Surrounded by friends and family to cheer them on, each contestant will ride 26.2 miles on the bike for a chance to win the grand prize of $10,000. The temptation? …for each cupcake worth 100 calories that the contestants choose to eat, they can add 5 minutes time to any contestant. Aha!

Some do eat and more than a few are had on behalf of Sam and Daris getting some time…as well as a few others.

Mike learns from his mother that his grandmother is not doing well at all. He struggles with frustration because he knows that he needs to find a balance between working out and spending time with his grandmother.

The contestants workout in their home environments and some struggle more than others without their trainers, but they do all persevere.

They educate their friends and family members about healthy eating and they really recognize how much better they feel since the huge change in their exercise and eating habits.

The Bike Challenge

The challenge begins and one family member from each team has a cell phone that will keep them updated about where each of the contestants are at regarding their miles.

They are instructed to keep going until each person finishes because at the end the cupcake time will be added.

They are all looking strong!

Sam is in the lead…and finishes first BUT still need to attach time.

Koli takes 2nd, Lance 3rd, then Sunshine, Daris, Andrea,  Stephanie, Ashley,  and Michael

Now…the cupcakes! 32 were eaten!

Sam had 10 cupcakes…dropped to 8th place.  Koli wins because no one ate any cupcakes against him. Yay!

Last Chance Workout:

Back at the gym with Bob and Jillian…

Bob is very impressed with how Michael has been handling the stress and emotions regarding his grandmother. Huge progress there!

Grueling workout per normal!
