WOW! ok, I know it has taken me awhile to write this…
Today I am inspired by someone on Twitter that I NEED to keep it real with you all!
This past year has seen me through A LOT of changes…not all of which I will go into here, but here are are few:
- the loss of a job
- moving from NC to parents house in MI
- and most recently a move from MI to NM with sis who is starting a great new job here
This is NOT an excuse…I know that I have not made good choices a lot of the time. I did manage to keep up with exercise for a good deal of the time while in MI. (thanks to challenges and you all, those were some good times)
Man, what I can I say about my winter in MI – I think that’s really when the denial started. It’s easy to put on weight and not think about it as much when you are constantly in PJ’s or sweats working from home. π Yes, that was me!!
Bottom line and NOW to get serious! I have put on 40 lbs since my lowest weight of 158ish. GRRR Yes, that is right! I am now just shy of 200 lbs at 198.
I know why and how…I know the changes to be made AND I hope and pray that I am truly learning from this experience as I do NOT want to be someone that gains back 100+ lbs!!
Moving to Albuquerque has been such a wonderful surprise to me! If you read my blog, you know how much I fell in love with biking. Well, I am in bicycling heaven here! Trails galore and a climate to match!
Sis’s apartment has a great gym and pool! (Would you believe that ALL of the cardio machines have their own TV’sΓΒ AND we are choosing to NOT have TV in our apt here?!) I joke that I will be on the treadmill at night JUST to watch ridiculous TV! LOL
Whew…load off my chest – thanks for listening and the support!! YOU all rock! π
P.S. I am thinking a new challenge is in order – probably will involve cardio goals that will be personal to all. Any takers? Stay tuned….
Winters in the midwest are hard. Bundle up to keep warm and snuggle under a blanket.
Glad to have you here in ABQ! It’s a great place and the weather doesn’t give you much excuse not to work out. And you got that great gym! Awesome!
Doesn’t it feel good to come clean with that? We will be here every step of the “weigh”. π
Ali
Lisa, you’re not kidding me about the midwest winters! Yikes! I did grow up in WI tho so I am somewhat used to it! Thanks for the warm welcome to ABQ – maybe we can meet up sometime!
Ali, thanks friend!! and you are a funny one!! π
You live and learn and you are only human – you had alot of stuff going and you caught it at 40 before it got out of control. You are strong, smart and motivated and I know you can get these 40 lbs. off in no time!
Thanks for being honest with us, we are all here for you!
Kim, mwah! π You are so my girl! Thanks for the words of encouragement! I really appreciate it a lot! Now, time for me to get back on track, right?! π
Paula, I so know the feeling. Since May 2009 I have put back on all the weight that I lost (about 30lbs) and I am now back up to 200 lbs also. You are right, it is so easy. I have been struggling to get back on track with eating and exercising ( I even participated in your 30 Day Shred challenge for the first 17 days). Since then, I had all been downhill. Thank you for you honesty to help us all understand that we are not alone. I have recently changed my work schedule with the hopes of getting to the gym more often. It’s a baby step but a start. Thanks again for sharing your journey!
Janice, thanks so much for your comment and for sharing your own struggle. Let’s do it together girl! I know we can! π
It’s one of the reasons that I love you P – you always find the courage to share your real experience. We’re all in this together, in both celebration and commiseration. Emphasis on wanting more of the former, even though I know we have to deal with latter sometimes. :0)
Warmer weather, lots of bike trails – you’re in your workout element!
Lori thank you SO much for your kind words and encouragement! You always make me feel great! π AND I am SO excited that you are meeting your goals!! YOU are motivating me to get after!! Yes to the biking here – I am loving it BIG time!!
Hey. Things happen. The important thing is that you saw it and want to do something about it. Just keep moving foward and don’t bang your head if things go slowly. That’s all you can do. Good luck!! Just watch out for the native animal population.
Hey thanks so much for the encouragement John! I really appreciate it! π Happy to report that I’m feeling back on track with exercise and eating – nothing crazy, but a routine that will work – real life stuff!! P.S. Coyote crossed my path behind me on the bike the other day! doh!
Paula,
Thanks for sharing your current story and for continuing to support and encourage me (and others) along the way. You are appreciated!
Beckie
Thanks so much Beckie! Appreciate your comment and email. π
